Beware of Phone Scams
State Credit Union would like to remind its members to remain vigilant and to be aware of two recent phone scams:
In the first scenario, a person calls you from an area code outside of SC, stating they are with a collection agency calling about a delinquent loan. The caller has some of your personal and financial information making them sound legitimate. If you receive a call like this and were not expecting it, ask for the callerís name, hang up and call State Credit Union at 803.343.0300 or 800.868.8740, and ask for the person who called you.
In the second scenario, a person receives an automated call stating their debit card is locked. To unlock, the person is instructed to press a number and leave their debit card number on a voicemail. Do not do this. Never leave your debit or credit card number on a voicemail. State Credit Union will never contact you in this way to unlock a debit card and we will never ask you to leave sensitive or card information on a voicemail.
If you receive any calls like the ones described above, please let us know by calling 800-868-8740 and speaking to a Member Service Representative.
As always, we thank you for being a State Credit Union Member.
