Growth and change throughout the decades
On May 5, 1952, seventeen state employees gathered in room 317 of the Wade Hampton Office Building in Columbia, SC, for the purpose of organizing the SC State Employees' Cooperative Credit Union.
Since then, State Credit Union's story has been one of growth and change. From those humble beginnings when the credit union was run from the basement of the SC Department of Mental Health to a $600+ million institution serving over 67,000 people today, the goal of improving the financial lives of our members has remained constant.
